Kolonaki Residence

About the project

Kolonaki Residence is a 67 m² apartment where the history of alteration is left legible rather than tidied away. A fragmented 1960s plan is opened up for contemporary living, while its oak parquet, terrazzo and marble are retained and repaired.

Where walls are removed, thin strips of Tinos marble record their former position in the floor. New timber, brass and stone elements sit alongside the existing finishes, chosen for frequent use and the way they age. Upgraded glazing, an air-source heat pump and low-energy lighting improve performance without changing the character of the rooms. The result is an apartment that feels new without pretending to have started from scratch.
